Product Description

When blended to the proper ratio, RACE GASTM can take your ordinary pump gasoline and transform it into high octane, high energy, track grade racing fuel. RACE GASTM will keep you from ever running out of racing fuel.

In working with several chemists and our suppliers we came up with the blend that became RACE GASTM.  When we had a third party laboratory run the ASTM D 2699 and 2700 tests, Race Gas blended with pump gas produced results as good as racing with regularly distilled 100 octane gasoline, See the test results. This blend will improve the quality of regular "pump gas" and make it suitable for racing - why? Because RACE GASTM adds back in the key elements of racing fuel - hydrocarbons, oxygenates, and organometallic compounds:

  • Fuel Hydrocarbons: Fuel Hydrocarbons are compounds that contain both Carbon and Hydrogen that, when burned, produce water (H2O) or Carbon Dioxide (CO2).  Saturated Hydrocarbons have a high octane rating and carry additional carbon atoms which produce more energy when burned. They also produce a synergistic effect when used with certain organometallic compounds to product higher octane ratings than if they are used by themselves.

  • Oxygenates are one of the most misunderstood compounds in gasoline. While many have heard of the negative effects of oxygenates like Ethanol and Methanol not all oxygenates are created equal. Oxygenates play a very important role in high octane gasoline. Like the name suggests oxygenates add oxygen to gasoline. As we all know our engines need oxygen to burn fuel. By adding an oxygenate to RACE GASTM we are adding that crucial oxygen to the fuel which, in turn, allows the engine to burn fuel more completely thereby taking advantage of the additional carbon atoms added by the fuel hydrocarbons.  The net result is more horsepower! The oxygenates that are used in Race Gas are not derived from alcohol like methanol and ethanol and therefor do not damage fuel system and engine components like these oxygenates do.

  • Organometallic compounds are added to gasoline to increase the octane of the fuel. Up until recently Tetra Ethyl Lead was used in gasoline for this purpose. In addition lead was used as a lubricant on older engines that didn't have hardened valve seats.  The problem with lead in gasoline, (other than the environmental effects), was the fact that scavenger compounds needed to be added to gas in order to keep the lead from creating deposits on pistons and cylinder heads. When the EPA banned lead in fuel refiners turned to other metallic compounds like Manganese, Iron, Nickel and Magnesium. All of these different compounds have their pros and cons. We believe that Manganese has the best overall effect on octane and the best synergistic effect with the other compounds  in Race Gas. As a result Race Gas contains high quality Methylcyclopentadienyl Manganese Tricarbonyl or MMT.

Moreover, we know that RACE GASTM is safe for cars even under the most demanding conditions. We have burned RACE GASTM in everything from a 944 Turbo race car, a modified Audi TT, a Hemi Magnum, a Hemi Challenger, and modified VW R32, a Corvette and many other cars. All showed increases in power, throttle response and torque, (you can see the dyno test results of many of these cars on our test results page at www.race-gas.com).

Try a can of RACE GASTM and you'll find what everyone is finding - that RACE GASTM really works, turning ordinary pump fuel into RACE GASTM.

  1. best stuff ever 5 Star Review

Posted by on 18th Dec 2017

    my car is running strong!

  2. Air Cooled + High Compression + Florida Heat + RACE GAS = Problem Solved! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 13th Jun 2017

I ride a high compression, air cooled, big bore Buell 1250 in Southern Florida. Ever since I built my bike 6 years ago, I have had a detonation issue, even with a professional dyno tune. Three months of the year the bike runs great but the other 9 I have lower RPM pinging issues. In the past I have tried parts store “octane boosters” with mixed results. Mixed being some improvement until the outside temp heads north of 90 degrees, but in South Florida that’s about 7 or so months of the year. So no solution, nor the enjoyment I get from a ride in the cooler 3 months of the year.
I recently purchased two cans of Race Gas to give it a try since the temps in South Florida are north of 80 degrees. I decided to go higher in the octane mix (99) than I probably needed and adjust downward over time. I recently took a slow ride along the coast in stop and go traffic, which in the past was not a happy experience for my Buell or me. Typically I had “pinging” when pulling away from a stop light and had to maintain 3000 RPM to keep detonation at bay, which raised the air cooled head temps and in a vicious cycle raised the opportunity for detonation. With the 99 octane mix all the issues disappeared and my Buell was happy to chug along in second or third gear where in the past I had to stay in first or second. Also in the past, a full tach sweep to 7500 RPM was tricky with pinging down low and the ignition pulling timing out up higher in the range. On Race Gas I get FULL power from off idle to redline in all gears!!!!
I can honestly say that Race Gas performs as promised and as I dial in my mixture, the costs per gallon will drop.
I do have one suggestion to Race Gas.
Please make available a see through plastic 12 OZ container with half ounce increments molded into the container that will hold their product long term and also has a top on it that will stay sealed on its’ side or even upside down.
Such a product would allow me to ride more and longer distances since I can only ride around 100 miles per tank, and prefer not limiting my rides now that I know I have a solution to my detonation issues. I am having trouble finding a container of the right size to fit in the waist pack I carry when I ride, since I have no “bags”. I would gladly purchase an empty storage container or two from the Race Gas people if they made one available that solves my issues, and I am sure other motorcyclists or high performance street car owners would enjoy having a smaller container to carry Race Gas in that has measured increments on it.
Thanks for making a GREAT product!!!

  3. High compression+ Air Cooled+ Florida Heat = NO longer a problem 5 Star Review

Posted by on 13th Jun 2017

I have a high compression Buell with a big bore Harley Sportster based 1250 engine. In the few months of cooler temps we have here in Southern Florida, my bike rand great, but in the other 10 months I had an issue with pinging at lower RPM and load. I would lose the performance I had built into the engine and the ride-ability too. I had tried other so called octane boosters with mixed results, being improvement during some of the not so hot months but no improvement after the air temps go north of 90 degrees!!!
I tested Race gas with a 99 Octane mixture on a 95 degree day with a low speed ride up the coast. Normally I would need to keep the RPM's up to keep the detonation at bay, but with Race Gas my Buell gladly ran perfectly at any RPM, and no more pinging when leaving a stop either.
Race Gas performed as described and I could not be happier!!!

My only suggestion is this; we motorcyclists like to ride and I can only go about 100 miles on a tank of fuel so my ride distance will need to be kept to local routes. It would be nice to be able to purchase a suitable (resealable, able to be stored on it's side without leaking, suitable to hold Race Fuel without degrading over time) empty 12 OZ container so I can take a few tankfulls on the road with . Not all motorcycles have bags so this container needs to be able to be thrown into a back pack or similar.

Thanks for making a great product!!!

  4. real octane booster 5 Star Review

Excellent product that really works as claimed ! Happy to see the new can design

  5. Saves Money 4 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Mar 2016

I ride a hot rod Harley with 10-1compression&a lot of timing that runs good on 100 octane but is pricey. I can get it in town but when I'm on the road, well good luck. I found that with a little experimentation by mixing pump gas & race-gas I really didn't need 100 octane. 96 is all the octane I need to stop the detonation. So in the long run I'm saving a substantial amount of money by not having to pay for racing fuel. I suggest that you do the same.

  6. Works Great! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Sep 2015

I used race gas in many engines low and high compression and it works very well, especially in the lower compression engines with lots of timing. I use this regularly in my supercharged 3800 and it loves it. I wish they'd change the can design, its a pain to pour without spilling some.

  7. Did what it said it would do 5 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Jul 2015

Used this product to make 101 fuel to run my 11 to 1 compression with nitrous big block at the track and experienced no problems do to fuel and saved about $2 a gallon in the process.

  8. Works great! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 27th Jun 2015

I have used this stuff in three different engines in three different cars and they all ran better when I used race gas. 4 stars because the tin can is a pain to open and you're almost guaranteed to spill some while pouring into a funnel

  9. Awesome 5 Star Review

  12. More bang for your buck. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Nov 2014

I added this product to my triumph spitfire because i wanted the kind of gas i used to buy at 32 cents a gallon in the early 70s ; just to let you know my small 1296 four banger has 10.5 to 1 compression was bored 30 over and went from the stock 1 barrel carb to 4 keihin carbs , 4-2-1- headers etc. This race gas really works the car ran fine without it but runs even better with it , it's really nice to shift from 1st into 2ed and have the car jump forward as it pulls for more. This stuff brings back that good old feeling of the sunoco 260 feeding my corvette back in the 70s.

  13. This is the real deal! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 29th Oct 2014

I just recently purchased a can of Race Gas and I am definitely a believer now. I have used other octane boosters in the past and was not happy with the results. This product definitely will give your premium gas a kick. Very easy to mix and go baby. I am definitely happy and will be telling all my racing buddies about it. Thank you for developing such a product. Excellent.

  16. costly 3 Star Review

One can only treats a single tank of gas...$29.99 is a lot for that single tank!

  17. Performance oriented product for the street or strip 5 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Aug 2014

I didn't buy the Race Gas concentrate for racing for any other purpose than ensuring my Mustang GT 5.0 Coyote engine gets the octane it needs. In California we can only get 91 octane and that bothers me. I use this concentrated formula to boost my gas octane above 93 as recommended and when I did, I could tell the engine was more responsive and shifts a little bit harder as it seemed to have improved on power and acceleration. Mind you, I am not saying I got a increase in horsepower or torque. I am saying it caused my car to be where it is suppose to be in regards to octane rating recommended and efficient operation of the engine. Awesome results for blending the concentrate according to the charts given. Just so you know, I have owned 4 Corvettes and 3 Mustangs all V8 and even one GT with a supercharged 5.0. This formula is worth the money I paid for and will be ordering more as I blend according to recommendations and keep things where they are suppose to be. A tune may be needed to maximize even more power and performance but without a tune, I got an increase in giddy up in this pony.

  18. Not cost efective 3 Star Review

Posted by on 30th Apr 2014

At $29.99 per can at 8 oz per gallon plus 93 octain gas at $4.00 a gallon comes out to be $11.50 per gallon not cost effective.

  19. Race Gas 4 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Apr 2014

Product acts well used in 2 different vehicles. God for no more than 105 octane in which would be much better if it would not fall off there and have the reach to at least 110 Octane. A bit pricy for a mixture product I would expect for the price that one would receive twice the amount of product or a more concentrated product to treat double of what it currently does. Even if this meant raising the price by 10.00 or so per can. In example this 32 oz can I would expect 48 oz for the price and for 64 oz I would expect to pay a little more this would allow a good strong mix with 5 gallons of gasoline to get the higher octane a racer needs. Instead of having to purchase 2cans for every 5gallons one plans to use even with the beginning fuel of 93 Octane.
Overall great customer service and they stand by their product. They even contacted me to ensure I knew how to use the product to obtain the goal and octane % that I needed. Obviously at the least previous racers and definitely car guys. If you don't mind mixing and it is better for race to mix with your gas in a gas can then pour it in to your ride vs. Just putting it in your gas tank and giving your car a shake. As I am doubtful that it would evenly mix thoroughly. If you are looking for 100 octane or less adding it to your fuel tank with a few hard stops probably will do the job but if you are looking for 100+ I would stick with mixing it in a gas can first. The same if I were running a solid wet shot of nitrous of 200 horse or more.
With this product being in small cans it is much easier to handle and carry with you eliminating those 5Gal metal cans of racing gas you have stored in your garage and are carrying to the track.

Overall it is a good product and much different than those off the shelf products that one would find in the local auto parts store that state they will boost your octane by a few points. This is a serious product and the real deal.

  20. Great product but... 4 Star Review

Posted by on 25th Mar 2014

I added this to my 2012 Dodge Challenger and it made a world of difference! The engine purrs like a kitten and runs much better than with 93 octane gas.

That being said I did run into a couple of issues. One, I paid $12 shipping and the can came damaged. Two, the container was so damaged in shipment and I could not get the lid off requiring me to punch holes in the canister so that i could add it to my tank.

To summarize; the product is a 5 star product that does exactly what it says it will do. It will make your high performance engine purr and you will feel the difference when driving. The shipping is 2 stars at best. They need to do a better job of packaging and shipping if you are going to spend that much for shipping.
